MysteryGuestInc.com

Several months ago, a friend told me about MysteryGuestInc.com (MGI). In a nutshell, restaurants hire MGI to provide feedback about the service, quality and atmosphere at there establishment. For this valuable feedback, MGI picks up your bill (at least a portion of it). It's a win/win situation for everyone involved. As a consumer, you get to dine out several times a year (4-6) and someone else picks up the majority of the bill.

I got my first call from MGI last night so my wife and I will be visiting a BBQ place called Smokey Bone's this weekend.

Re: MysteryGuestInc.com

Smokey Bones has great BBQ. My favorite dish there is the BBQ Brisket. Hope you like it too.

Re: MysteryGuestInc.com

Blogging about your visit in advance takes the Mystery out of it, don't you think? :-)

Re: MysteryGuestInc.com

Smokey Bones is open?!? Woo hoo! Great presentation of food and a fun atmosphere. Went to one in Springfield IL once. They had ten sports TV's and little portable speakers so you could choose which TV to get sound for. My brother in law and I chose the Cards on TV#5, the guys next to us chose the Cubs on TV#7. Texas Roadhouse still has the best Ribs on the planet..

Sooo? The weekend has come and gone. We need a complete report. I went to the Old Spaghetti Factory about three months ago. Strange experience. The food was great, the service was TERRIBLE. On hand were national managers who stopped by to ask how the service was. They were very apologetic and made up for the service as best they could. I am waiting a year before I go back. I figure they have to get it right eventually..

Re: MysteryGuestInc.com

Let's just say, I got the chance to play in a golf tournament and didn't end up making it to Smokey Bones. My wife and her mother ended up going instead. They said it was very good. I'll take their word for it ;) That's a bummer to hear about your experience at the Old Spaghetti Factory. I'm a huge fan of theirs.

Re: MysteryGuestInc.com

I normally have a LOT of patience at a restaurant. I see how hard they work and know I could never remember 10% of the data they have to remember. These guys (Old Spaghetti Factory back in Nov/Dec) were like having 5th graders. Forgot our drinks, appetizer order, half our dinner items, and our dessert. It was ludicrous. Other people at other tables were all looking at each other and shirking their shoulders in understanding with each other. Can't wait to make it over to Smokey Bones.

Re: MysteryGuestInc.com

I went to a Smokey Bones in OKC, OK through MGI. The visit was excellent. The food was really good. After the visit, I did my report and sent it to MGI on their website per their instructions. However three weeks later, I have not heard from them as far as report feedback or received the portion of the bill they told me I would receive. I am discouraged by their lack of contact or feedback. I am impressed by Smokey Bones and will go back even without MGI. The ribs were good and the food a very good value.
