Tour De Dad

On Saturday, I attended the SemiAnnual Tour De Dad bike ride. Actually bike ride is a bit strong, it was really a social event where bikes were used as the transportation means. This event was hosted by a friend's(Hans) father, John Gerwitz. Hans referred to this event as a "pub crawl on wheels". I'd have to agree. The focus of this social outing was to expose St Louis County dwellers to the jewel's of St Louis city. This particular gathering focused on Forest Park specifically. Having grown up in the city near Ted Drewes, I am very familiar with many of it's attractions including Forest Park. I had a great time, learned a bit of history about the park, and met some great people.

Tour De Cure

Yesterday I had the pleasure of participating in the Tour De Cure bike ride to help raise money for diabetes and lower my self esteem. I say that because I was wiped after doing the 50 mile ride. It was a great time and I look forward to next years ride. I would also like to thank Envision for the fantastic jersey's that they supplied. My only gripe was that I wasn't able to hang around after the ride at Raging Rivers.

Id also like to say thanks to everyone that made donations to the diabetes foundation in my name. It's a worthwhile cause and I really appreciate the help. My team, Velocity, raised over $4K dollars.

Strawberry Festival Ride

This morning I attended Trailnet's Strawberry Festival Bike Ride in St Jacob's Illinois. I arrived a bit late and didn't get a chance to meet up with anyone, but it was fun nevertheless. This is my second ride of the year and I plan on attending many more. I also picked up a helmet this past week. I really stood out last week. Heck, I may have been one of the only rides without one. It's probably a good idea even if I did buy it due to peer pressure. I chose to to do the middle ride of 24.7 miles today due to the weather(I was worried it would start pouring at any moment). It was actually raining pretty hard when I left my house this morning. Fortunately, St Jacob's isn't all that close(approx 45-50 miles) to Ballwin, MO where I live so the rain stopped somewhere in between. My only gripe of the day had to due with the long line at the Strawberry Shortcake stand afterwards. I chose not to stand in line and wasted my free ticket. Better luck next time.

Trailnet bike ride

Today I got off my butt and went on the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Bike Ride put on by Trailnet. I chose the middle route of 33.2 miles and Hans took the long route of 46.2 miles. It took me just under 3hrs to complete the ride. I thought that was pretty decent considering it was my first outing of the year, not to mention I bought my bike yesterday.
